Hypnotherapy NlpWhat is Hypnotherapy?

Executive Summary By Terry Doherty

Hypnotherapy is the act of placing the mind into a hypnotic state where actions and outcomes can be transformed and changed for the betterment of the person. When actively hypnotized, a person’s mind is put to rest or placed in a relaxed state, where the stresses of every day life and the thoughts that often preoccupy the mind fall off to reveal a more inner sight. Hypnosis has been compared to the feeling the body experiences when falling into a deep sleep. The comforts of the body, the calmness of the mind are all very similar to the state that hypnosis renders on the user.

How does hypnosis work?

Hypnosis is a partnership that requires three careful pieces. The mind must be ready and willing to enter into a state of hypnosis for the person to feel the effects of the hypnotherapy. The minds strength, when centred against hypnotherapy, can render the treatment ineffective.

Once these three pieces are in place, the sessions and the hypnotherapy can begin. During the first couple of sessions, there will be light hearted discussions about why the patient has chosen hypnotherapy, the reasons for the hypnosis and the outcome the patient is seeking from the hypnotherapy. After these sessions are complete, the therapist will begin the active stages of hypnotherapy.

How will the active sessions begin?

As your mind’s guide, the therapist will speak softly and gently coaxing the mind into a restful place where the patient is both aware of their surroundings, yet calm enough to release some of the blockages of the mind. How long will therapy last?

Hypnotherapy is not a timed process. This unique quality of the mind shapes and changes the focus of therapy for each patient. Life is also constantly changing and the memories of the mind update on a constant basis. These changes can lead to new information and new problems that can be sorted through with the therapist during the hypnotherapy sessions.

Many people believe that hypnotherapy is the same as the hypnosis tricks they see on a stage. Stage hypnosis is nothing more than a trick of the mind. Yes, these people are often in an altered state of mind, but trained hypnotherapy specialists are there to help people just as chiropractors or family physicians are there to help the patient relieve a pain. Hypnotherapy offers a unique solution that is natural, drug free and relaxing. Even if there are no real specific reasons to seek the help of a hypnotherapist, there will be a freer, more relaxed state of mind that is created from talking about and releasing the inner most thoughts and feelings of the mind.

Motivation in NLP Coaching and Hypnotherapy and How it Works

When people think about coaching or therapy, for some odd reason they have this belief that they are broken, and furthermore that the coach or therapist is somehow going to magically fix any problem that they might have. Whenever this happens, I am reminded of a story about Milton Erickson. What is out there are approaches to how the mind works, how the body works, and how you can make both work in-sync and getting more out of your mind and life in general. So much energy has been spent on the problem already, somehow we run out of motivation to really do anything about it.

Stop Smoking Hypnotherapy Metamorphosis

Executive Summary by Suzanne Zacharia

If you want to stop smoking naturally, stop-smoking hypnotherapy may be the first thing suggested to you. That compares very favourably with most artificial solutions.

So hypnotherapy first came about as an alternative therapy. Naturally, evolution takes place, and now there are alternatives to hypnotherapy too.

Once highly controversial, hypnotherapy has become a staple, accepted norm. Now, new techniques have evolved, as hypnotherapists hone their skills and learn additional advanced techniques. Now, the new techniques are controversial. How times change!

For example, my colleague Laura has just shown me news about a hypnosis show on TV of the deep-trance eye-closed variety. I said the media are only interested in the dramatic old style that works far less effectively than the new techniques. It defies common sense, but common sense is not what sells papers, magazines, or TV shows.

However frustrating this can be, change is definitely happening. In my personal experience as a practitioner having to make a living, I found that promoting hypnotherapy paid more than promoting the advanced techniques I was learning. I no longer wanted to concentrate on eye-closed hypnosis, because I had more effective techniques for the client. But the client knew, trusted, and asked for eye-closed hypnosis. Now it is easier for the average person to accept methods other than hypnosis to stop smoking. Times are changing, and I am beginning to find that right place in my conscience that hits the right note.

Of course, hypnosis certainly has its place, and I use it often with clients. However, I find using the lighter form of hypnosis with modern techniques more effective than the dramatic eye-closed deep-trance variety.

Smoking Cessation

Smoking CessationSmoking Cessation Benefits

By Tom Dainty

If you are a smoker, apart from being chastised at every opportunity by the anti-smoking police, you will no doubt be aware that smoking is bad for your health. The answers lie in the smoking cessation benefits that come from quitting the evil weed. Smoking os so bad for your health it beggars belief.

Rather than thinking in terms of smoking cessation benefits, I want to look at the downsides of smoking in terms of your health

Smoking Cessation Benefit #1: Reduced risk of cancer

When you smoke, you are literally ingesting cancer-causing (carcinogenic) substances all the time you inhale. Overtime, these carcinogens cause cell damage and help to mutate the DNA in your cells. Eventually your body becomes overwhelmed and somewhere, there is a good chance of you developing cancer.

Smokers also have higher risks of virtually all forms of cancer, but these risks start subsiding the minute you stop smoking.

Smoking Cessation Benefit #2: Reduced risk of COPD

Another major disease caused by smoking is collectively known as COPD which stands for Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. For you and me that means long term damage to lung function disease.

In simple terms, emphysema suffocates you to death because your lungs stop being lungs and instead become stagnant bags of air in your chest! Most smokers suffer from very mild bronchitis caused by the irritation of inhaling hot toxic smoke into the lungs every hour or so. This manifests in wheezing and the smoker’s cough where the smoker expels the excess mucus produced in response to this irritation.

Smoking Cessation Benefit #3: Reduced risk of heart disease

Smoking causes many physiological changes in the body both on a short term and long term basis. This in turn makes it harder for your heart to pump blood around your body.

Smoking Cessation Benefit #4: Reduced risk of stroke

Smokers run a much higher chance of having a stroke, particularly in later life. Smokers with high blood pressure run a twenty fold higher risk of stroke compared to non-high blood pressure non-smokers.

Laser Smoking Cessation

You may have heard of the laser smoking cessation technique in conversation or read it in a magazine but what is it and can it help you? The thought that there might be a solution for us [smokers] captures every smoker’s imagination.

Unfortunately, the laser smoking cessation process you may have heard about is not the salvation that you hope it might be. Before even bothering to wonder why laser light instead of metal needles or normal light would be a more effective variation of acupuncture, we should also ask whether or not acupuncture itself is a well-founded process for treating smoking (or anything else for that matter).

The answer is a conclusive ‘no’! Research from the Cochrane Collaboration shows that acupuncture has no better success at helping people quit smoking than quitting cold turkey. Acupuncture has been found useful only in relieving pain but not in any other field of medicine, addiction treatment or therapy.

The bad news is that this sort of treatment [laser smoking cessation] falls into the sphere of what I call ‘meta-medicine’. Whilst there are practitioners out there who will try to sell you laser smoking cessation therapy or so-called bioresonance treatments, their methods are no more proven than standing in a bucket of frogs is for helping you stop smoking.

My advice to you is to stay well clear of unscientific processes to deal with nicotine addiction and tobacco dependence. You are much better off avoiding unspecified herbal concoctions and faith healing methods and sticking closer to the mainstream and always demanding a 100% money back guarantee.
